The EL6692 is an EtherCAT bridge terminal from Beckhoff Automation. The bridge terminal helps in the exchange of real-time data between EtherCAT strands and different masters. The terminal also helps in synchronizing the distributed blocks of each strand. The power supply for the primary side is obtained through an E-bus and an external RJ 45 connector on the secondary side. The accessory supports a maximum of 480 bytes in each direction for the process image width. It can be configured through a TwinCAT System Manager. The bridge terminal can be mounted on a 35mm mounting rail that conforms to EN 60715 specifications. The terminal is CE Certified and UL Recognized. When multiple units of this type are used, the data traffic can continue to the terminals on the other side even if there is a power supply failure on any one side. The vibration or shock resistance of the accessory conforms to EN 60068-2-6 or EN 60068-2-27 specifications. The cable length between two EtherCAT terminals can only reach a maximum of 100m. The hardware diagnosis can be done through status LEDs. The terminal must be operated at a temperature ranging between -25°C and +60°C and stored at a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C.
The accessory comes equipped with a safety feature known as a watchdog. This feature turns the outputs off after a specific time, such as when the process data traffic experiences an interruption. The bridge terminal has a relative humidity of 95% without condensation. The primary side has a current consumption from the E-bus supply of 120mA, while the secondary side comprises a current consumption of 60mA for its 24 V power supply. The terminal supports ADS over EtherCAT. It can be used to integrate a subordinate PC to perform the role of an EtherCAT slave.
