Product Description
Over the years, applications used on the industrial floor require more than interconnection and seamless communication between a number of devices. To provide a smooth connection, the Beckhoff Ethernet switch port terminal provides a decentralized connection of Ethernet devices in an industrial environment using the EtherCAT Terminal network. Due to the precise nature of the industrial floor, for example, an EtherCAT system is preferred because it ensures the connected devices to communicate in a fully transparent and collision-free manner using an Ethernet connection. A Beckhoff Ethernet switch port terminal has a compact design allowing it to fit in various housings.
The Beckhoff EL6614 is an Ethernet switch port terminal with four Ethernet ports and a bus system that has Ethernet-based protocols and store and forward switching mode. For the EL6614 to address a wide range of industrial application requirements, it can provide either real-time data exchange, non-real-time data exchange, or both. The two modes allow the transmission and reception of configured network variables and the usual Ethernet traffic. For non-real-time data exchange, for example, the exchange of data between two devices is optimized for throughput, introducing the possibility of automatic fragmentation.
The EL6614 has a typical current consumption via E-bus of 450 mA. Its permissible conditions include an operating temperature range of -25 to 60 degrees Celsius (when installed in horizontal position, other positions function at-25 to 45 degrees) and a storage temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. With a weight of approx. 85 grams, the EL6614 is able to comfortably sit on the mounting rail it is installed on.
