Product Description
The EL6224 is an IO-link terminal produced by Beckhoff Company. It allows the connection of up to four IO-link devices such as sensors, actuators, or both. It utilizes a point-to-point connection between the terminal and the device. The EtherCAT master serves to parameterize the terminal. IO-link is engineered as an intelligent link between the sensor and the Fieldbus level which allows bidirectional exchange of parameterization information through the IO-link connection. TwinCAT is used to parameterize the IO-link device via ADS or an integrated IO-link configuration tool. EL6224 primarily functions as a 4-channel input terminal that communicates with IO-link devices to parameterize or change their operating mode if necessary.
The EL6224 features four IO-link interfaces, 24V DC field voltage via power contacts, and a 3-wire connection. Data transfer rates include 230.4 kbaud, 38.4 kbaud, and 4.8 kbaud. The maximum cable length used in this IO-link connection is 20 meters. It features a 500mA supply current for each device, 120mA current consumption via E-bus, and 500V electrical isolation. The EL6224 IO-Link weighs approximately 60 g and has IP 20 class protection. The ambient conditions required for this device include an operating temperature range of -25 to 60 degrees Celsius, and a storage temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity should not exceed 95% and should be condensation-free. Some of the approvals and markings include CE, UL, and II 3 G Ex nA IIC T4 Gc. This IO-Link terminal should only be operated by specialists trained in control and automation engineering.
