The Beckhoff EL2624, is a 4-channel mechanical relay output terminal that falls under the EL EtherCAT Terminal Series, which primarily aim at controlling electrical loads like motors, lights, and actuators. It's signal LEDs help the user to monitor the terminal status quickly and it is protected by an extremely durable polycarbonate compact enclosure, aiding in quick integration of the terminal in automation systems.

The terminal has a voltage input triggering mechanism and therefore is compatible with the EPS communication system. The system is able to transmit large amounts of data quickly and has a low probability of errors. The device comes with the capabilities of switching loads with a maximum of 125 V AC or 30 V DC, switching capabilities include 0.5 A AC and 2 A DC for each channel, making it a good choice for devices that require low and medium power. The wiring is simplified via the plug-in connection method that is spring loaded, which decreases time in installation while ensuring proper connections.

For this terminal specific EL2624, it is designed to fit onto 35 mm DIN rail; standard EN 60715 guidelines are also applicable. The temperature for operations ranges from 0 to +55 while storage temperatures are seen as low as -25. EN 60068-2-6 and with EN 60068-2-27 specifications regarding the resistance of this device to vibration and shock are also applicable. The EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-4 standards are confirmed for this terminal allowing for reasonable performance in conditions that involve electrical disturbances. The terminal does not exhibit intrinsic safety features, however; it has CE and UL approval marks that conform to global safety standards.
