Product Description
EL2252-0000 is a Beckhoff EtherCAT terminal with 2-channel digital output. EtherCAT is a high-performance, real-time Ethernet networking protocol designed specifically for industrial automation and control systems. Both outputs on the terminal provide high precision switching. It uses distributed clocks for reference timing. Special features available on the terminal include push-pull output, high-impedance output switching, XFC technology support, and synchronized operation. The terminal uses 4-wire connection technology. Its two outputs support nominal 24 Volts DC voltage. The load type can be lamp, ohmic or inductive. The timestamp precision is 10 nanoseconds. The resolution timestamp is 1 nanosecond. Precision of the distributed clocks is less than 1 microsecond. Output delay specification for the 24 Volts power section is typically less than 1 microsecond. Each output on the EL2252-0000 terminal can provide maximum 0.5 Amps output per channel.
The typical short-circuit current is 4 Amps per 150 microseconds. Reverse polarity protection is available. Breaking energy per channel is less than 150 mJ. The typical switching time for the ON state is less than 1 microsecond. The typical switching time for the OFF state is less than 1 microsecond. Current draw of the module E-bus is 130 milliamps. 500 Volts of electrical isolation between the field potential and the E-bus provides added safety. Current consumption of the power contacts on the terminal is typically 30 milliamps plus the load current. In the process image, the bit width is 8 bits for channel 1 and 2. The EL2252-0000 terminal weighs approximately 60 grams. Relative humidity in the operating environment should not exceed 95%. With an IP20 rated polycarbonate housing, the EtherCAT terminal can be installed in variable mounting positions.
