The EKM1101 is an EtherCAT coupler with diagnostics and ID switch from Beckhoff Automation GmbH. The coupler is designed to meet the high-precision analog measurement technology requirements. This device can be incorporated in special measuring situations in place of the standard EtherCAT coupler. The product helps to couple ELxxxxEtherCAT terminals and 100BASE-TX EtherCAT networks along with identity verification. It converts passing telegrams from Ethernet 100BASE-TX format to represent them as E-bus signals. The coupler’s functionality is identical to that of the ELM9410 power supply terminal from the manufacturer. The device is available with a warranty period of one year.

The EtherCAT coupler features a 24V power contact supply and an E-bus supply. Both of them are filtered and electrically isolated from each other to minimize interference in the terminal that is connected. The 100BASE-TX stations support a maximum distance of 100m between each other. The product supports up to 256 configurable IDs and 65,534 EtherCAT terminals. It features two RJ-45 bus interfaces. The device has a couple of special features such as output and supply voltage diagnostics as well as reverse polarity protection. The data transfer takes place at a rate of 100Mbit/s with a delay of approximately 1 µs.

The CE Certified coupler has a protection category of IP 20. The unit helps in extensive temperature and voltage monitoring for commissioning and operation. The E-bus has a current supply of 2,000mA. The device has a shock resistance conforming to EN 60068-2-27 specifications. This product incorporates an inbuilt three-axis vibration and position sensor. It can be installed in any position. The device comes equipped with two hexadecimal ID switches that help in the assignment of an ID for a set of EtherCAT components. This set can be placed at any point in the EtherCAT network.
