Product Description
The EK1960 is a compact controller made by Beckhoff. It has 20 digital inputs and 24 digital outputs. Of course, all of the inputs and outputs are safe. It can be used as a stand-alone model or it can be connected to other controllers by using an EtherCAT connector. The couple can be extended near all of the EL/ES terminals. This controller comes standard with an EtherCAT RJ45 but has an M8 as an option. It has three address selectors as well as a Us and Up port. The unit has an option for Relay in-/outputs.
The cycle time is about 1 ms but it varies depending on how large the system is. The fault response time is parameterizable. It can be less than or equivalent to the watchdog time. This unit is to be installed horizontally. The protection class for the EK1960 is IP 20.
The EK1960 can process analog signals at 16 or 32-bit pulse, unsigned or signed. It’ll transfer over to the logic via EtherCAT signal. This means that the analog signal can check for plausibility inside of the logic. The scaling and calculations required to check the plausibility is done in the SIL 3/PL safety. The EK1960 is a controller in a family of terminal systems with modular I/O. The fieldbus protocol can be traced all the way to the individual terminal without an independent terminal bus. They can be connected using a bus coupler which makes sure the whole system talks with the existing system. This specific controller also supports TwinSAFE SC technology which keeps data transmission safe and secure between the terminals to this controller.
