Product Description
Beckhoff Automation is one of the most important companies that deliver industrial solutions for automation applications. They have a large product range such as electric motors, industrial PCs, motion controllers and electric drives. The company is an industry standard for automation OEMs. EtherCAT is an industrial deterministic protocol, developed by Beckhoff. It has now become an industrial automation standard for high-performance industrial applications and communication given its low jitter, low delays and low hardware costs.
The EK1561 is a single port Ethercat plastic optical fibre branch or junction, that is used to conver telegrams from 100BASE-TX to POF-based 100BASE-FX physics. It should be connected to a Beckhoff EtherCAT coupler, such as the EK1100 to carry out this conversion. The connection to the coupler is used to provide power to the EK1561 with the E-bus connection and also to connect the overall station to an Ethernet based 100BASE-TX network. The EK1561 should typically draw 200 mA from the E-bus link when turned on.
Plastic fiber optic cables cover smaller distances (to a maximum of 50 meters between two couplers) with respect to glass fiber optic cables, but they are much more easily wireable on systems. The device is able to provide some feedback to the operator through 2 LEDs on its front side. The RUN led will indicate the power status of the module while the Link LED will indicate the communication status. The temperature of the environment close to the EK1561 module shall be in the range from -25 to +65 degrees Celsius while the system is in running conditions and must be kept in the following range: -40… +85 degrees Celsius while the EK1561 is turned off.
