The EK1501-0010 EtherCAT coupler is used for integrating EtherCAT with EtherCAT Terminals. The device facilitates communication between multiple stations. The multimode glass fiber supports communication between stations that are up to 20 km apart. There is no disruption in signal transfer at such a long distance because of high-quality multimode glass fiber communication channels. The device complies with IP 20 standard international protection and is protected against ingress by objects greater than a finger's size. This coupler supports over 65,000 Terminals. Communication between stations is easy because the 9/125 µm multimode glass fiber is capable of transferring data at very high speed (100 Mb/sec). The data transfer delay is also reduced to just 1 µs because of a rapid data transfer rate.
The EK1501-0010 uses two SC duplex channels for bus interface. The device requires 150 mA current from a 24 V DC power supply. With a weight of only 190 g, the coupler is lightweight, portable, and easy to install. For the best performance, it is advisable to use the coupler within a temperature range of 0 ᵒC to 55 ᵒC. Users can also assign specific IDs to a group of components in the network. The EK1501-0010 comes with three hexadecimal switches for this purpose. By assigning specific IDs, locating component groups in a large network becomes extremely easy.
