Product Description
The EK1110-0008 is an EtherCAT Extension manufactured by Beckhoff which converts E-bus signals into a 100-BASE-TX Ethernet to provide for an extension to the EtherCAT network. The extension is plugged in on the end of an EtherCAT Terminal Block. The terminal enables users to connect an Ethernet cable using an RJ45 or an M8 Bus connector. Unlike the EK1110 EtherCAT extension, which is plugged in to the end of an EtherCAT Terminal Block via an RJ 45 bus connector, the EK1110-0008 is connected using the M8 bus connector. It utilizes the screwed type of the M8 bus connector. Like in the EK1110, this extension will also extend an EtherCAT strand that has been electrically isolated to a maximum of 100 meters. That is, where the cable length between two Bus Couplers is a maximum of 100m.
The E-bus signals in the EK1110-0008 terminal are easily converted to a 100BASE-TX Ethernet cable signaling. In both of these terminals, the power supply to the electronics is delivered through the E-bus without the need to configure or parameterize any task. It is possible to achieve line lengths of up to 100 meters through the M8 if you use Ethernet cables that have sufficient performance. It uses the shielded Ethernet CAT 5 Cable as the transmission medium.
Typical current consumption for the extension is 130mA with power supply from an E-bus. It weighs just 50 grams and has a delay of approximately 1 µs. The type EK1110-0008 has an M8 socket that has excellent compatibility with the EtherCAT box modules. It can work with any EtherCAT protocol and the setup does not require any configuration or address settings.
