Product Description
The EK1110 belongs to the EK family of EtherCAT extensions manufactured by Beckhoff. The extension fits into the end of the EtherCAT Terminal Block. With this extension, it is possible to extend the EtherCAT strand, ensuring it is electrically isolated by a maximum of 100m. To do that, the Ethernet cable is either connected with an RJ 45 connector. The main task of the EK1110 extension in the EtherCAT system is to convert the input E-bus signal to 100BASE_TX Ethernet. The E-bus supplies the power needed for the EK1110 to operate.
The transmission medium of the EK1110 EtherCAT extension is the shielded Ethernet CAT 5 cable. Ideally, a maximum cable length of 100 m is allowed between two Bus Couplers for 100BASE-TX. The EK1110 comes with a baud rate of 100 Mbaud and makes use of any EtherCAT protocol. It does not need an address or any form of settings before usage, so no need for any configuration. However, it has a delay of about 1 microsecond. It has a dielectric strength (supply voltage) of 500 V and current consumption of typ. 130mA.
The EK1110 EtherCAT extension permits a temperature range of -25oC to +60oC during operation. But for storage, it permits a temperature range of -40oC to +85oC. Its permissible relative humidity is 95% with an absence of condensation. It is mounted on a 35 mm mounting rail, adhering to EN 60715. Its vibration and shock resistance is also in strict adherence to EN 60068-2-6/EN 60068-2-27. The EK1110 extension belongs to the IP20 protection class and has a variable installation position. Its dimensions are 44 mm x 100 mm x 68 mm, with a weight of around 50 g. It is approved by the CE, ATEX, and cULus.
