Product Description
The Beckhoff BK1150 is an EtherCAT Bus Coupler designed to provide connectivity between K-bus terminals and EtherCAT at Fieldbus level. This “Compact” coupler tends to accommodate as many as 64 terminals. However, a system comprising of 255 (maximum) terminals can also be constructed by including a K-bus extension. This model supports the EtherCAT protocol and can operate with a maximum baud rate of 100 Mbaud. The BK1150 is an IP20 rated device that supports multiple installation positions.
The BK1150 comes equipped with 2 x RJ45 type Ethernet interfaces (upper and lower). The upper Ethernet connector provides connectivity between the coupler and the EtherCAT network. Whereas, the lower Ethernet connector can be used for the addition of other EtherCAT devices or it can also be left unused for future expansion and modifications. The associated Bus Terminals recognized by the coupler are allocated into the EtherCAT process image automatically. The 500V electrical isolation feature of this model ensures the safety of the coupler itself and the associated upstream and downstream equipment also.
This bus coupler can be deployed anywhere in the EtherCAT network as it supports 100BASE-TX transmission. The Beckhoff BK1150 is equal to BK1120 in terms of functionality but its housing is approximately 5 millimeters slimmer than that of the Beckhoff BK1120. This “compact” EtherCAT coupler weighs around 150 grams and requires a 24 VDC power supply to operate. The starting current or the inrush current required for bringing this device online remains around 2.5 times the continuous current. You can easily configure this coupler via EtherCAT (ADS) or KS2000. The BK1150 requires industrial Ethernet cable (CAT 5, minimum) as data transfer medium and permissive length of the cable is 100m.
