Product Description
The EK9000 is a multi-function EtherCAT coupler of the EK EtherCAT Coupler Series by Beckhoff, permitting simple integration of standard digital and analog EtherCAT Terminals and EtherCAT Box modules into Ethernet networks. A coupler is used to provide for effective communication in an EtherCAT system with the aid of coupler functions for connection of modules to networks via the protocols Modbus TCP and Modbus UDP. The transfer rates of up to 100 Mbit/s do not stress the fast and reliable communication.
The module contains two RJ45 ports, whereby these must be configured as a switched bus interface. It allows a variable amount of EtherCAT Terminals and peripheral signals according to the quantity of process data, with maximum flexibility in system configurations. The power supply is 24 V DC (-15%/+20%) with an input current of typically 170 mA. The E-bus system bus supports data transfer between connected terminals. The process image bit width is also determined by the modes of operation of the connected terminals, which is one more reason for good adaption to a wide range of systems.
For heavy duty, the EK9000 is encapsulated in plastic and also can be DIN rail mounted for easy mounting in a wide variety of industrial applications. Its dimensions are 65 x 100 x 70 mm and about 150 g is its weight. The couple can work between -25°C to +60°C, and the product, under tough conditions, still delivers very good performance. This conclusion can be derived from the fact that the EtherCAT Terminal EK9000 possesses a flexible design and it is capable of a high transfer rate; hence, it may be considered as a good solution for the application of EtherCAT systems in Ethernet networks.
