The Beckhoff EK3008 EtherCAT Coupler is designed to provide connections in various complicated and highly operational industrial network systems. Working on the EtherCAT protocol, this device guarantees fast and efficient data exchange.
The EK3008 is fitted with eight EtherCAT ports that use the conventional RJ45 connectors thus enabling the development of a complex network topology. These ports are USB 2.0 with Cat 5 or higher Ethernet cables, with data transfer rates of up to 100 Mbps per port. This capability provides for proper data movement across the multiple connections which is vital for system performance in large networks. The unit is suitable for star, line, or tree network configuration to allow for versatile installation in industrial settings within modular configurations. It has a low EtherCAT transmission delay of around 1 µs per coupler, which is crucial for upholding the reliability of real-time communication in the network. The EK3008 is simple to power with a 24 V DC input and requires approximately 2 A for the E-bus, which also offers up to 2000 mA of current. This powerful power management ensures stable functioning and power supply to connected terminals. The coupler ensures a maximum distance of 100 meters between two EtherCAT nodes thereby suitable for extensive industrial applications.
The coupler works efficiently at a temperature of -25°C to +60°C with the storage temperature being -40°C to +85°C to support flexibility in conditions. It can also function in 95% relative humidity (non-condensing), typical of demanding industrial surroundings. Its EMC conformity meets the EN 61000-6-2/EN 61000-6-4 standard as well as the vibration and shock standards of EN 60068-2-6 and EN 60068-2-27 respectively. The EK3008 is small in size with an approximate dimension of 44mm x 100mm x 68mm enabling it to occupy a limited space when mounted on a DIN rail. It has an IP20 protection rating which makes it suitable for use in a controlled indoor industrial environment. This product is covered by a one-year warranty from Wake Industrial.
