Product Description
Industrial networks play a key role in the running industrial applications by enhancing communications between devices on the industrial floor. Beckhoff ensures that this communication is maintained by designing and manufacturing embedded computers that are light to be mounted on a control cabinet and intelligent enough to handle different control tasks on the same hardware. To interface with different devices on an industrial network, Beckhoff embedded computers have different communication interfaces. Beckhoff CX series embedded PCs have a modular design combining a modular Input Output level on a DIN rail with PC technology.
The CX8180 is a Beckhoff embedded PC for RS232 and RS485. Note that the two serial interfaces are not tied to any specific protocol and can be used for a range of serial communication protocols by using appropriate TwinCAT 3 functions. To eliminate the need to manually configure the PC for connected Input and Output, the PC’s E-bus or K-bus terminals automatically recognize new devices during start-up. With an international protection rating of IP 20, the CX8180 is designed to be used in a control cabinet away from liquids and large solid objects.
To reach optimal performance, the Beckhoff CX8180 has to be mounted and operated in an industrial environment with an ambient temperature ranging from a minimum of -25 degrees Celsius to a maximum of +60 degrees Celsius. By accommodating such a wide range of operating temperatures, the embedded PC can be operated in virtually any industrial environment. When being stored or transported, the CX8180 should be subjected to an ambient temperature of between -40 degrees Celsius and +85 degrees Celsius. The embedded PC has approvals from Underwriters Laboratories, allowing it to be used around the world.
