The CX8080 is an Embedded PC that features RS232/RS485 interface. It is manufactured by Beckhoff Company. This control system is designed to be installed on a DIN rail in a terminal box or control cabinet. It is suited for operation in environments that meet protection category IP 20. It should not be brought to operation in dusty and wet environments. Despite its sturdy design the CX8080 is susceptible to strong vibrations during transportation. The CX8080 comes with a 32-bit ARM-based CPU that is ideal for processing of slave devices or PLC programs for fieldbus systems. This Beckhoff PC is programmable enabling it to run its control program. The CX8080 is programmed and commissioned through the Ethernet interface which can be used to connect it to the regular network. It uses Microsoft Windows CE as its main operating system. The TwinCAT software found in this embedded PC is used for programming PLC functionality and system configuration. The MicroSD Flash card stores all software required for smooth operation in a bid to simplify exchange in case of service.
