Product Description

The CX8030 is a programmable PROFIBUS DP Master controller that is used to process PLC programs or as a slave device. This PROFIBUS DP Master controller presents an additional development of proven and popular 16-bit microcontroller-based Bus Terminal controllers from the BC/BX series, and this includes 32-bit processors that are more efficient. Just like the BC/BX series, the control and local programming on the CX8030 controller are executed in case the higher-level field bus system is interrupted. In such cases, the CX8030 can be used as a local controller. It can be purchased from Wake Industrial with a one-year warranty.

The programming of the CX8030 controller is done according to the IEC 61131-3 standard. Just like all the other controllers in the CX80xx family, TwinCAT automation software is used as the basis for programming and parameterization. This makes the common TwinCAT tools like PLC programming interface, TwinCAT Scope, and System Manager available. The configuration of the CX8030 PROFIBUS DP Master controller is also done using TwinCAT. The system manager can be used to parameterize and configure the real-time clock and fieldbus interface. The system manager can read all connected Bus Terminals and devices. Once the parameterization is complete, the configuration can be saved on the CX, meaning that the configuration created can be accessed later.

The Automation Device Specification (ADS) protocol is the transport layer in the TwinCAT system. This transport layer was designed to facilitate data exchange between various software modules, like the communication between the PLC and the NC. The protocol allows communication with various tools found in the TwinCAT. In the event communication of other devices or PCs is needed the Autmation Device Specification protocol can use TCP/IP as its basis. This means, it’s possible to reach all the data from any location within a network system.
