The CX5140-0142 is one of the several embedded PCs offered by Beckhoff Automation. The device is fitted with an Intel Atom 1.9GHz quad-core processor. The embedded PC is compact and functions as a control system. The system has four USB interfaces that are designed to operate in working environments with IP 20 protection class. The device supports 32-bit Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB operating system and TwinCAT 2 NC PTP runtime control software. It must be installed behind a firewall if it is used within a network and it must not be operated in dusty and wet environments.
The terminal box or control cabinet in which the system is mounted on a DIN rail must have appropriate attenuation of shielding. The unit can also be fitted on a housing with IP 54 protection class based on EN 60079-15 specifications. There are individual slots to insert a microSD card and a CFast card. The cards are not provided with the system. The device helps in executing motion control projects that are with or without visualization. The embedded unit features 4 GB DDR3 RAM non-expandable memories and has a one-year warranty.
The device supports the I/O connection through a bus connection. This connection is either an E-bus or a K-bus that is recognized automatically. It operates at temperatures ranging between -25°C and +60°C. The system features DVI and fieldbus plug connectors with screws that have to be tightened so that the connectors do not slip. The bus terminals must be removed and the unit should be installed only after switching off the power supply. It comes with a low power consumption fanless design.
