Product Description
The Beckhoff CX5020 and CX5010 embedded PCs in the larger Beckhoff CX5000 series are powered by an Intel Atom processor with the difference being the CPU version. The CX5010, for instance, is powered by an Intel Atom Z510 processor while the CX5020 is powered by an Intel Atom Z530 processor. An important differentiating factor between the two CPU versions is the speed for the Z510 has a clock speed of 1.1 GHz and the Z530 has a clock speed of 1.6 GHz. Apart from the speed, the Z530 employs Intel’s hyperthreading technology. The technology boosts the CPUs performance by up to 30 percent.
The CX5020-1115 is an embedded PC designed and manufactured by Beckhoff. The PC belongs to the Beckhoff CX5020 series in the CX5000 family, and features an Intel Atom Z530 processor. This PC features TwinCAT 3 runtime (XAR) control software and a Windows Embedded CE 6 operating system. Note that employing the TwinCAT software allows real-time control with a variety of programmable logic controllers and/or robotics runtime systems. With a TwinCAT 3 control software, there is freedom in selecting programming languages, provides a flexible runtime environment, easier migration of TwinCAT 2 projects, and allows Visual Studio integration.
The CX5020-1115 has a slot for a Compact Flash card and an integrated capacitive 1-second UPS. The UPS ensures application data is securely backed up on the CF card. To maintain an accurate log of events, the CX5020-1115 features a built-in battery-backed clock. The embedded computer requires a storage temperature range between -40 degrees Celsius and +85 degrees Celsius, and an operating temperature range between -25 and +60 degrees Celsius. Whether being stored or operated, the CX5020-1115 should not be subjected to a condensing relative humidity exceeding 95 percent. The computer has a fanless design allowing it to be small in size hence saving space during mounting.
