Product Description
The CX5140-011 from Beckhoff is the newest addition to the range of the series of Embedded PCs. It comes with an Intel Atom E3845 processor operating at a clock speed of up to 1.91 GHz with 4 cores for fast and effective handling of complex tasks. This device provides flexible storage options: slots for CFast and microSD cards, although the latter is not provided. The device is equipped with 4 GB DDR3 RAM intended to support resource-consuming applications, though there is no possibility to extend its memory. In addition, a 1-second UPS is combined with 1 MB storage on the CFast card in case of power off, so the data is saved.
The CX5140-011 is with several connectivity options: 2 x RJ45 ports with 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet, 1 x DVI-I and 4 x USB 2.0 ports, and also places room for 1 optional interface to support extended functionalities. Its passive cooling system has no moving parts and is made for silent, efficient thermal management. The Diagnostics are actually easy to use with the LEDs showing power, TC status, flash access, and bus status. A battery-backed internal clock means that the unit will accurately show the date and time for an extended time and can be readily interchanged for the longest usage. It supports the following operating systems: Windows Embedded Compact 7, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise versions, TwinCAT/BSD.
The device supports E-bus or K-bus automatic recognition on input/output connections. Furthermore, there is a reliable 24 V DC supply. The maximum power consumption is 16 W; the Embedded PC even supplies a current of 2 A to E-bus/K-bus, therefore being an embodiment of energy efficiency coupled with high-performance operation in the main industrial control range.
