The Beckhoff‘s CX Embedded PC Series model CX5120-0121 is a model that has been designed to offer reliable performance in any industrial application. It has a small and powerful Intel Atom E3815 processor that has a clock speed of 1.20 GHz and has only one core to control simple tasks in harsh conditions.

To choose a suitable storage media to expand, this embedded PC features CFast and microSD card slots. It also comes with a 512MB microSD card built in, which means that you can expand your storage space as soon as you take it out of the box. The main memory includes 2GB DDR3 RAM that is non-upgradeable but sufficient for the system operating demands of most standard embedded implementations. The connectivity options include two 10/100/1000 Mbit/s RJ45, one DVI-I for video output, four USB 2.0 for peripherals, and one optional slot which can be configured according to user preference. This design does not have a cooling system; this improves reliability and decreases maintenance through the removal of any moving parts. These LED indicators on the device include power indicators, TC status indicators, flash access indicators, and bus status indicators to give the user the system status at a glance. It also has an onboard battery backed-up clock, necessary for time and date stamping and storing of events and logs, with the battery being user-replaceable.

This PC operates on the Windows Embedded Compact 7 platform and has TwinCAT 2 and TwinCAT 3 runtime control software; it has both E-bus and K-bus connections and can automatically detect which bus is connected.
