Beckhoff has launched the CX1800-0411-1009 Embedded PC from the CX Series, which is specifically designed to withstand the challenges of industrial applications.

This unit is powered by a 24 Volt DC supply and fits well into diverse industrial systems, with power use varying according to setup and usage. It is designed to work in a temperature environment of 0°C to 55°C and is thus ideal for use in various industries without the concomitant loss of efficiency. It uses passive cooling, thus not requiring any additional parts to cool the system thus lowering the maintenance costs. It has an IP20 rating which means it is dust-tight and can withstand accidental touches or continuous contact with the environment. Additional protection against overheating is provided by integrated thermal sensors and management systems that increase the product’s reliability during long-term use. Circuit protection is incorporated and includes overcurrent, surge, and transient protectors to guard the PCB from possible electrical harm typical of industrial use. Energy consumption is very low in this model to reduce on costs of running the machine and it is UPS compatible to enable it to run even in a power failure. The CX1800-0411-1009 has been guaranteed to meet the basic safety requirements for the product by being certified with CE and UL.

It is compatible with Windows Embedded Standard 7 which is a reliable and flexible solution for industrial solutions. It has a 32 MB Flash and 128 MB RAM which are expandable depending on the user’s requirements. LAN and serial communication is provided through a COM1 (RS232) port and an Ethernet RJ45 port for connecting to other industrial networks. The dimension of the unit is 71mm x 100mm x 73mm and weighs 230 grams approximately; therefore, it is readily installable in control cabinets.
