The Beckhoff CX1500-B510 is a miniaturized Embedded PC Fieldbus module which flaunts the primary CX Series which is focused on Industrial CANopen communication. It is purposed to enable communication between the control devices in an efficient and reliable manner; it can achieve a data transfer rate of between 10 kbaud to 1000 kbaud making it compatible with diverse networking needs. This has a bus interface functional with a 5 pin style open connector which easy allows incorporation into the fieldbus. It can support up to 127 slaves on a single network, thus high interoperability with other elements is possible.

This module, however, although small has a capacity of up to 1536 bytes for both input and output and many say it offers very low power consumption. Its small dimensions of 38 mm x 100 mm x 91 mm and light weight of roughly 190 g make it apt for environments with very limited space. The energy efficiency of the module despite its small size was achieved at maximum power loss of 1.8 W.

Ruggedness characters the construct of the module, the CX1500-B510 working reliably in a -0°C to 55°C environment and can be stored in a safe 25 degrees below zero. The vibration and shock resistance requirements of the standards EN 60068-2-6 and EN 60068-2-27 are also met by the module, which will operate efficiently under vibrations and shocks. In addition, standards EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-6-4 that address EMC immunity and emissions, respectively, are also met by the module to guarantee protection from electromagnetic interference. The module shall only be used in conjunction with the TwinCAT 2 software and will be supplied with appropriate compliance and safety markings.
