For industrial automation, the Beckhoff Embedded PC model CX110-N030 is a compact and robust device. This model is optimized for industrial control tasks and uses an AMD Geode 266 MHz processor for powering up.

The Flash it comes with is 32 MB and with 128 MB of RAM, it has enough storage capability for real-time applications for automated settings. This PC is capable of running several various operating systems, for example, Windows CE.NET and Windows XP Embedded, allowing the user to conform to the changeable industrial control environments. An RJ45 Ethernet port is fitted for network connectivity in addition to high-speed data transfer operations which are important for smooth industrial operations. Two RS232 interfaces are included to maintain a bridge to older technological infrastructure and compatibility with legacy devices. The device draws power from a standard 24 V DC power supply common in industrial facilities and uses Compact Flash (CF) cards for expandable storage, therefore boosting data retention capability. The module is designed for DIN rail mounting, allowing the use of space in control cabinets, which is particularly suitable for compact systems. The diagnostic capabilities of the status LEDs support power, system activity, and communication monitoring for easy diagnostics and maintenance. Depending on the ambient temperature, the CX110-N030 can run in the range of 0°C to +55°C, making it suitable for a wide variety of indoor industrial applications. For vibration and shock resistance it complies with EN 60068-2 standards.

The unit is rated at IP20, offering protection from solid objects, but little from liquids. It is compatible with Beckhoff’s modular I/O terminals and PC104 Bus for field expansion. TwinCAT software, supporting advanced PLC and motion control is also supported by the PC. Even if it carries robust features, the PC is designed in a small and lightweight package measuring 19 mm (W) x 100 mm (H) x 51 mm (D) and weighing about 80 grams so it can be easily installed and integrated into existing systems.
