The CX1020-0111-1023 model forms part of the Beckhoff CX Series Embedded PC layout, which is designed for the purpose of Industrial Automation. The pc contains an Intel® Celeron® M ULV central processing unit that runs at 1 GHz which is good enough for any control functions. The processor is single core making it simple yet effective for real time application.

This model incorporates 256 MB of DDR RAM which can be naturally upgraded to 1 GB for flexibility in resource allocation for more complicated applications. Storage is complemented by a Compact Flash card slot, with 128 MB included and installation potential towards a minimum allocation of extra data storage if needed. The CX1020-0111-1023 model constitutes two RJ45 connectors for connecting gigabyte ports − 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet, which is supported by an internal switch. This module does not have a fan for cooling but cooling fans are available for this model when required.

The system also has LED indicators in the operating system for attention to power status; LAN link & Activity; TwinCAT; occurrence of flash access all geared towards interaction with the system. The structure was planned with a reed clock battery so that day and time are kept even turning off the main power, which is extremely important for any automation process. The CX1020-0111-1023 is capable of running TwinCAT 2 PLC runtime and NC PTP runtime together with NC I runtime for motion applications. It runs on Windows Embedded CE 6 or Windows Embedded Standard 2009. It is part of the 16-bit ISA (PC/104) system bus and is connected to I/Os via a power supply module (E-bus, K-bus or IP-Link). This Embedded PC is rated at a maximum power consumption of 11 W and IP20 protection, and is also designed for use inside industrial environments.
