The Beckhoff CX1010-0012 is an Embedded PC from the CX Series stylishly compact, intended for the Embedded PC market, focusing particularly on the field of automation control. It contains an Intel® Pentium® MMX that operates at 500 MHz and thus is reasonable for control applications. Instead of a multi-core design, this module adopts a single core design which is good for real time computing and machine control.

Offering 256 MB DDR RAM (non-expandable) and on top a Compact Flash slot with 128 MB of internal flash memory and additional external storage availability, this device aims at fulfilling the basic storage needs of industrial programs and data. Equipped with an RJ45 connector, the Ethernet port accommodates bandwidths of 10/100 Mbit/s therefore allowing for effective communication between devices within networks.

The device has what is called passive cooling which does not require air conditioning for cooling hence making this device easier to use in another way. In addition, it is equipped with a power supply LED, LAN activity LED, LAN speed LED, flash access LED and LED for TwinCAT status. As an added feature a clock with a battery is also found in this device to enable the device to always keep time and date which is critical to automation processes where timing is a key factor. The system runs under two OS which is either Windows CE6 or CE2009, the CX1010-0012 is compatible with both TwinCAT 2 PLC runtime and TwinCAT 2 NC PTP runtime which is suitable for any industrial control requirement. This module is configured to I/O through power supply modules (E-bus, K-bus, or IP-Link) and interface through a 16 BIT ISA system bus (PC/104).
