The Beckhoff CU2005-0000 is an Ethernet switch that does not have a management function and is used in different industrial environments. It supports all Ethernet-based protocols IEEE 802.3 and works in store and forwarding switching mode which makes it an important part of network management and data transfer.

All the ports on this particular model are Ethernet and there are five ports in total, all of which are 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX Ethernet and are created using RJ45 connectors. The device can connect up to 100 meters of cable length using the twisted pair cable, with the data transfer rate set to 10/100 MBit/s through the use of IEEE 802.3u auto-negotiation. This feature enables the switch to automatically choose between half duplex or full duplex to facilitate the free flow of data in the network. All ports of the CU2005-0000 have two LEDs per port to indicate the activity and link status at the port level thus enhancing quick diagnostics and monitoring. The power supply is through a 24 V DC input, adjustable from 18 to 30 V DC through a 3-pole connector. The unit draws about 90 mA, proving that it is fairly economical with energy consumption. The design of the switch is rather compact and flattened, which is why it is possible to mount it on a DIN rail – this is quite common in industrial settings.

The CU2005-0000 has a dimension of 210mm x 99mm x 42mm with a weight of approximately 260 grams; the product is durable and can work in an environment with a temperature of 0 to 55 degrees Celsius and can be stored in an environment with a temperature of -25 to 85 degrees Celsius. This makes it easy to install and place the unit in any orientation, while still being able to offer an IP20 level of protection against particulate ingress. The switch features automatic detection and correction of crossover or 1:1 Ethernet cables to make setup and management much easier.
