Product Description
Beckhoff manufactures the BX5100-0000 as an integral component of the BX Bus Terminal Controller Series, which functions as a CANopen slave interface. It includes an automated baud rate detection mechanism that supports up to 1 Mbps for better, more effective communication control.
The controller also includes a simple switch for assigning addresses, which allows for quick tuning based on network requirements. This device features 16 Transmit Process Data Objects (Tx PDos) and 16 Receive Process Data Objects (Rx PDos), allowing for efficient and flexible data transport in networks. It can handle 64 bus terminals; but, with the addition of a K-bus extension, it can take up to 255 terminals, giving a modular method for large systems. The BX5100-0000 model has 256 KB of program memory and 256 KB of data memory. It has 2 Kbytes of remanent data and 1 Kbyte of permanent data, providing sufficient memory space for complicated programming and data storage. Its runtime system supports one PLC task with a cycle time of approximately 1 ms for 1,000 instructions, without including the I/O cycle time on the K-bus, thus reflecting the efficiency of the controller. The programming capabilities are further developed by the application of Beckhoff’s Twin CAT software which provides a programmable interface that can also be programmed via the fieldbus.
The BX5100-0000 has programming capabilities of several languages as dictated by IEC 61131-3 standards: IL, LD, FBD, SFC, and ST. The controller has a unique online change function whereby the programming of the system can be done while the system is still operational without necessarily having to shut it down thus improving the flexibility of the controller. The product is available at Wake Industrial with a one-year warranty.
