Product Description
The Beckhoff BK5120-0100 is a versatile bus coupler from the BK EtherCAT Bus Coupler Series, designed for high-speed data transmission in industrial automation environments. This device supports 64 bus terminals, expandable to 255 terminals using a K-bus extension, providing flexibility and scalability for larger systems. It can handle 960 digital peripheral signals for inputs and outputs and supports 60 analog peripheral signals, making it ideal for a wide range of automation tasks.
The BK5120-0100 has a data transfer rate of up to 1 Mbaud and supports 16 Tx/Rx PDOs for CANopen communication. Additional CANopen features include life monitoring, node guarding, emergency object handling, variable mapping, and store/restore functions, making it highly adaptable to different automation needs. The bus interface utilizes a 5-pin open style connector, with a screened, twisted copper cable recommended for reliable data transmission.
The device can be configured via KS2000 software or through the controller, offering flexibility in setup and integration. It operates with a 24 V DC power supply and has an input current of 70 mA plus the total K-bus current, with a maximum input current of 500 mA. The starting current is approximately 2.5 times the continuous current, and a fuse of ≤ 10 A is recommended. The K-bus current supply is rated at 1750 mA, ensuring adequate power for connected terminals. Weighing around 150 grams and protected by an IP20 rating, the BK5120-0100 is compact and suitable for installation in controlled industrial environments. It is designed to operate within a temperature range of -25°C to +60°C, and conforms to standards for vibration and shock resistance (EN 60068-2-6/EN 60068-2-27). In terms of performance, EtherCAT technology enables extremely high-speed communication. It features hardware-based protocol processing with cycle times as short as 30 µs for updating 1000 I/Os, making it far more efficient than traditional fieldbus systems.
