Product Description
The AX2090-BW51-1000 is an external brakechip which is specifically compatible with Beckhoff’s AX5000 series of servo drives. The built-in braking resistor in the AX5000 drive is used satisfactorily in the greater part of the cases. However, in some cases there are systems that exert high demand levels which require more braking power. For these extreme applications, external braking resistors like the AX2090-BW51-1000 can be integrated with the AX5021 brake module for support from peripheral brake units.
The AX5021 brake module consists of a built-in braking resistor that is rated to dissipate 250 W load power continuously and has forced ventilation and a brake chopper. This module is meant to internal slave connections of the AX2090-BW5x type external braking resistor of power of maximum of 6 Kw. Thus, the system is able to cope with additional amounts of returned power from load to the DC bus.
The braking energy accrued in the DC link is dissipated through a voltage feed brake resistor to the external environment. Whenever energy that is considered to be regenerative power is returned to the DC bus link and the level is greater than that required, the resistor work is switched on to utilize that energy. The connection of the brake module to the multi-axis system is made easier with the use of the AX-Bridge module, which upholds ease of interconnections. The EtherCAT port available in the brake module enables easy parameterization and diagnosis in the System Manager, promoting effective control of the braking activities. Considering the utility of multi-axis systems in most technology-driven industries, the AX2090-BW51-1000 is crucial in delivering high braking force and reliability, while allowing management of regenerative energy in complex multi axes system.
