The AM8551-0E10-0000 can be classified as a robust Permanent Magnet Excited Three Phase Synchronous Motor aimed for industrial application where there is the need for high performance torques. Such a motor can operate in-between a 100 and 480 V AC and has a standstill torque of 4.80 Nm and a rated torque of 4.60 Nm. It offers a peak torque of 17.2 Nm at a rated sped of 2500 min⁻¹, and power output of 1.20 kW. Current standstill level is 2.70 A, while the maximum peak current reaches 12.1 A with a torque constant equal to 1.77 Nm/A. The Rotor Moment Inertia of the motor averages around 8.75 kgcm² and thus use where braked motors are employed and responding stability is required.
This motor some designed features has feedback resolving systems, absolute absolute single turns encoders and OCT (One Cable Technology) of resolution 18 bit either in single turn or multi-turn. They enhance the resolution of the motor registration systems providing an accurate position to allow usage of the Motor in advanced automation systems. Easy mantle cooling was employed thereby enabling the motor to work within an ambient temperature of +5 - +40 degrees centigrade. Industrial Distribution of electrical motors, M23 speedtec® plug connection technology has been adopted.
Performance data of the motor, except for the voltage constant, have been defined at 40o C ambient temperature and 100 K winding overtemperature with a variation rate of +/- 10 %. It may be noted that when a gear unit is fitted, the rated power output can be inhibited by up to 20% due to thermal limits, as the gear unit fitted on the motor flange is likely to inhibit the cooling.
