Product Description

AM8542-1E21-0000 is an industrial servo motor. It is produced and designed by Beckhoff Automation. A name plate attached to the housing lists important information, including technical specifications, country of manufacture, and safety level. The name plate should be used to verify the motor specifications at the time of delivery. AM8500 series motors feature a brushless design and support electronic commutation. The benefit of this design is reduced maintenance and replacement requirements, and higher reliability and safety. Integrated temperature monitoring on the winding prevents overload and overheating. The main shaft on the includes a feather key and a groove. The feather key transmits torque to an output element. The main rotor is balanced with a half feather key. The motor comes with an optional holding brake that locks the rotor in the de-energized state.

Retrofitting of the brake is not supported. The ambient temperature during operation should be kept within 5 and 40 degrees Celsius. The ambient temperature during storage should be kept within -25 and 55 degrees Celsius. The ambient temperature during transport should be kept within -25 and 70 degrees Celsius. Output of the motor derates by 6% at 2000 meters altitude, 17% at 3000 meters altitude, 30% at 4000 meters altitude and 55% at 5000 meters altitude. There is no derating due at altitudes of up to 1000 meters. Heat dissipated during operation is dissipated via convection cooling. Insulation class of the materials used on the motor is F. At nominal 400 Volts AC input, the motor shaft rotates at 2500 RPM. Total weight of the unit with the brake is 5.7 kilograms. Number of poles on the servo motor is 8.
