Product Description
The AM motor series line is a family of three-phase motors, produced and marketed by Beckhoff International. Consisting of different motor variations, the AM motor series line houses efficient and highly dynamic small motors that run at relatively higher speeds. Motors from this product line come in different sizes, frame types, and special features. Most motors, however, incorporate a feedback system that may be in the form of an encoder or a resolver. Some motors may also optionally come with a holding brake that can perform halting actions to fix the rotor in a stationary position. The AM8032-0E21-0000 is a standard Beckhoff AM motor that comes with a holding brake and an OCT encoder.
The AM8032-0E21-0000’s holding brake performs efficiently when excited by a 24 VDC supply. During operation, the holding brake takes 25 ms to fully release and 8 ms to fully activate. When in use, the holding brake draws 0.33 RMS current and consumes 11 watts. The maximum torque that the brake can hold at any time is 2 Nm. During the standstill condition, when the motor’s speed is below 100 rpm, the output torque on the shaft reaches 2.37 Nm at an RMS current of 2.95 A. On the nominal voltage of 400 V, the machine’s speed increases to 6000 rpm to supply a consistent torque of 2.2 Nm.
For high-torque applications, the AM8032-0E21-0000 may safely operate at a peak torque of 11.66 Nm. Compared to other AM servo motors, this peak torque is relatively high. Furthermore, the AM8032-0E21-0000 can also transmit a peak current of 17.2 A briefly without incurring damages or experiencing thermal overload. When the AM8032-0E21-0000’s internal winding temperature reaches 140 degrees Celsius, it automatically switches off.
