Product Description:
The AM8031-0D21-0000 is a specific motor variation produced by Beckhoff under the AM servo series line. Like other AM motors, the AM8031-0D21-0000 is a brushless synchronous motor equipped with a permanent magnet that operates at relatively high working speeds. It integrates an OCT multi-turn encoder, along with a standard holding brake for keeping the rotor in place during critical applications. It has a 72-mm flange length, a 168-mm body, and eight magnetic poles that are 45 degrees apart. During starting conditions, the static friction torque is 0.01 Nm. When excited using a 400 V supply, the machine reaches a cycle speed of 6000 min^-1. At this driving speed, the motor exhibits the following nameplate parameters: 0.84 kW, 1.9 A, and 1.33 Nm.
The AM8031-0D21-0000 supports the following installation variations: IM V1, IM V3, and IM B5. All the supported installation variations are mounting positions applicable for the flange method of mounting. IM V1 orientation fixes the motor to a steady structure, with its drive facing downward. On the other hand, IM V3 reverses IM V1’s drive direction, putting the rear end on the bottom part. The IM B5 installation variation faces the drive sideward. For vertical mounting positions, extra precaution and regular maintenance are necessary to prevent liquid leakage.
The AM8031-0D21-0000 incorporates a special protective sensor, the LPTC-600. This protective sensor is pre-installed in the machine’s monitoring system, which generates a warning message whenever the winding temperature reaches 120 degrees Celsius. When the winding exceeds the warning temperature and reaches 140 degrees Celsius, the AM8031-0D21-0000’s servo drive initiates a switch-off action. Aside from its built-in thermal sensor, the AM8031-0D21-0000 also comes with a powerful 24 VDC holding brake.
Frequently Asked Questions about AM8031-0D21-0000:
Q: What is the maximum holding torque of the AM8031-0D21-0000’s brake?
A: The AM8031-0D21-0000 has a maximum holding torque of 2 Nm at 120 degrees Celsius.
Q: What is the best mounting position for the AM8031-0D21-0000?
A: The best mounting position for the AM8031-0D21-0000 depends mainly on the intended application or purpose. The design of the structure where the motor will be coupled also influences the best mounting position for the motor.
Q: What protection rating applies to the AM8031-0D21-0000?
A: Since the AM8031-0D21-0000 employs a smooth shaft, the drive side has a protection rating of IP 54. The motor housing, however, has a higher protection rating of IP 65.
Q: How long is the application and release delay of the AM8031-0D21-0000’s holding brake?
A: The AM8031-0D21-0000’s holding brake has an application and release delay of 8 ms and 25 ms, respectively.
Q: How accurate is the AM8031-0D21-0000’s multi-turn encoder?
A: The AM8031-0D21-0000’s OCT multi-turn encoder has a system accuracy of +/- 120 angular seconds, which is also equivalent to 0.03 degrees.
