AM3065-1N21-1010 is a high-performance synchronous motor. It is part of Beckhoff’s AM3000 series. The motor has a brushless design with electronic commutation. Carbon brushes were used in earlier generations of motors for commutation. However, they tend to wear away and cause sparks, which leads to reliability and safety concerns. Modern motors use electronic circuits for commutation, which reduces maintenance requirements and improves operational safety. Neodymium magnetic material is used to make the high-quality permanent magnets on AM3000 series motors. Temperature monitoring of the motor windings prevents overload damage. Multiple feedback devices are available, include resolvers, single turn encoder and multi turn encoders. These measure motor speed and shaft position, enabling accurate control of motor parameters for demanding applications. AM3000 motors work in combination with a servo drive. This drive supplies AC power for the motor.
The drive also modulates its output to control motor speed and shaft position. AM3065-1N21-1010 is a flange-mounted motor. The flange is metal plate with mounting holes. Size of the flange on the motor is 138 millimeters. The motor shaft includes feather key groove. Other shaft designs are available if required. The feedback device installed on the unit is a multi turn encoder with EnDat interface. An optional holding brake is installed that has a 24 Volts DC voltage rating. The AM3065-1N21-1010 motor has rotatable angular connectors that comply with the M23 standard. The nominal input as specified by the manufacturer is 480 Volts AC. Operators can also operate the motor unit at 230 or 400 Volts AC. Nominal speed of the unit is 3500 RPM. Power output under nominal conditions is 6.24 kilowatts. Convection cooling provides effective heat dissipation during regular motor operation.
