Product Description
AM257M-0021 is an AM series servo motor from Beckhoff Automation. The motor has a compact and energy efficient design. High-quality permanent magnets are used for motor construction. These rare earth neodymium-iron-boron magnets make it possible to drive these servo motors in a dynamic manner. The motors have a three-phase winding which is driven by a compatible servo amplifier. The winding is integrated into the motor stator. With a brushless design, the commutation is performed by a special electronic circuit on the connected servo amplifier. These AM series motors operate with DC input supply. The nominal input is 400/460 Volts DC. Under optimal ambient conditions, the AM257M-0021 motor delivers 8 Nm standstill torque and 4.3 Amps standstill current. Speed rating of the synchronous motor is 3000 RPM. The rated output current and peak current are 4 Amps and 17 Amps.
Rated power output of the AM257M-0021 motor is 1.9 kilowatts. The motor’s torque rating is 6 Nm. This AM series motor supports feedback via an internal resolver. Real-time motor feedback allows the servo amplifier to precisely control and manage motor parameters. This feature makes the motor an optimal choice for applications with requirements for closed loop control. The motor has a flange for mounting. Its housing is IP65 rated and provides strong protection against liquid and solid ingress. Prior to commissioning, operators must check to ensure that all live connection points are safe from accidental contact. Operators must never disconnect electrical connections when the motor is live. Residual charge present in the capacitors on the servo amplifier can produce dangerous voltages even after the mains supply has been switched off. Surface temperature of the servo motor can reach extremely high temperatures. The motor must be given time to cool down before touching it.
