Product Description
AM237S-0021 is a Beckhoff AM series servo motor. Its speed is synchronized with the input current frequency, and therefore it is a synchronous motor. Synchronous motors offer several significant benefits for industrial applications. A primary advantage is their ability to maintain a constant speed regardless of load variations. Synchronous motors have high power factor capabilities, which can reduce energy consumption and lower utility costs by minimizing reactive power demand. These motors are more efficient than asynchronous motors, leading to lower operating costs and reduced heat generation. The AM237S-0021 motor features an integrated resolver for accurate feedback. The motor must be deployed with a compatible servo amplifier. Both the motor and the amplifier must be properly grounded. The motor does not have any brushes and commutation is performed electronically by the circuits in the amplifier.
The temperature of the servo motor winding is monitored by temperature sensors in the stator windings. An electrically isolated contact is used to signal the temperature readings. The motors can feature an optional holding brake. Retrofitting of this brake is not possible. Ball bearings used on the motor have a 20,000 hour operating life and required replacement after this time. The maximum permissible flange temperature is 65 degrees at rated values. The flange is a flat plate attached to the housing and allows secure mounting of the motor to the machine. The AM237S-0021 motor is designed for DC input at 400/460 Volts. Speed rating of the DC motor is 6000 RPM. Its protection category is IP65. The peak current output is 4 Amps and the rated current is 0.95 Amps. The motor power output rating is 0.25 kilowatts and the nominal torque output is 0.4 Nm.
